Kedron Valley Inn – I’ve had some really terrific meals here…reflections of the down-county New England ethos, from excellent local ingredients prepared with soul and served in a perfectly rustic environment. And I’ve had beautiful wines here, both young and surprisingly old, at bargain prices.

However, those days are in the past. Each meal here of late has been a bigger disappointment than the last, with massive service flaws – on one not-particularly-busy night, a 55-minute wait between the clearing of our first course and the arrival of our second…with neither an offered apology nor an explanation (they did offer to comp desserts, but by then the very last thing we wanted was to stay even longer) – and sloppy food (meat ordered rare and delivered well-done, missing ingredients, cold food alongside dishes that have spent far too long under the heat lamp, etc.) It’s a shame, because this is a fine location in a very historic facility, but while one may be able to eat and drink well here, one will have to be very lucky to do so.
